The most straight-forward and economical way to produce a new sharp edge is to grind one. It is not, however, the way to produce an edge with a longer working life and optimum cutting performance. Clippers that have been sharpened by Sharpen and Repair Workshop are hollow ground and polished to a reflective finish, which greatly prolongs their useful life.

TIPS & ADVICE:
Clippers that are used for seasonal work are often set aside in the off-season. Out of sight, out of mind – and this is when they can start to rust. When that happens, by the time they get to our workshop they can be in pretty rough condition. The result is that it takes a lot longer to make them good, and we frequently have to remove more material than we’d like. So what we recommend you do with any clippers that aren’t in constant use is give them a quick clean, then put them in a jar with enough of a 50/50 mix of kerosene and our lubricating oil to cover them completely. Next time you need them, they’ll be rust-free.
